Make it, Create it, Craft it
Purple – Craft
Purple
Craft Purple to raise awareness for Epilepsy, Purple Day is coming.
Purple
day is an international grass
roots effort dedicated to increasing awareness about epilepsy worldwide. On March 26 people all over the world
including Antarctica participate in Purple day,
help make March the 26th even more Purple!!! This is our Story
Epilepsy affects over
50 million people worldwide, which is about 1 in 100 people. That’s more that multiple sclerosis,
cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy and Parkinson’s disease combined. It can affect anybody at any time of
their lives so why isn’t anybody talking about it…?
You can help by Crafting Purple.
What ever you make, make it in purple.
The idea of a swap is
that you are allocated the details of another participant, make something to
the nominated theme and then mail it to your Swapee by a certain date. In return someone will make something and
mail it to you. Thus completing
the merry swap circle of life and at the same time raising awareness for epilepsy
- fantastic.
Who – You
and any/all of your friends
What – Make something in purple,
anything at all, any shade purple at all,
your item just has to be purple or have purple as the feature colour.
When – Register by the 10th of March. All items have to be mailed to your
recipient by the 16 of March. This
will make sure you hand crafted purple goodness
will arrive for the 26th of March Purple Day. I will send you regular updates and
reminders.
Why – To get people thinking about epilepsy, to
help bring it out of the shadows and raise awareness.
How - Email me to let me know you would like to participate,
let me know a little about who you are, what do you like, where do you
live. (This will provide some
inspiration for your swapee.) I
will then send you a name and address of the person you are to make for and I
will send your details to someone who will make for you.
Anything
else - Excellent things to swap
include, blank gift cards, hair decorations, brooches, small art works,
anything embellished, anything repurposed, book marks, pin cushions, necklaces,
earrings, gift tags, tea towels, book covers, small vessels and pots,
decorations, sculptures
