Better Late Than Never

It is a freakishly late spring year.  We are having beautiful warm, sunny, blue sky spring days but the temperature is still dropping right down over night.  Which has been messing with my plants biology, my seeds aren't germinating well and my flowers aren't blooming.

Yesterday I went to check the letter box and could smell the most stunning perfume and I thought "golly that smells like someone has Sweet Peas."  You can imagine my delight when I turned back to the house and realised it was me!  A quick glance around the garden shows a quite a few of my plants are on the verge of exploding into bloom - Yay.

Hopefully just the beginning.

How nice for me to have a little vase of flowers to look and smell, rather than the previous jar of dissolving chicken bones.

  1. You lucky thing. Somehow I forgot to plant any sweet peas this year and I am really missing them.

  2. Every year is slightly different to the last, weather wise. Sometimes the temperature is fine but the wind blows all the blossoms off the trees. When I last grew some lettuce the kids were small..about twenty years ago..and they ended up being about thirty cents each in a glut and the earwigs were in plague proportions in mine!
